What is the magnetic pull between an artist and cinema? It’s that big white screen, waiting to come alive with color and movement as the film starts.
Charlotte Adam captures the little things in life: Furniture, vases, takeout packaging, pickles, ice cream sundaes – no everyday object is safe from Charlotte’s brush. And by the way, she’s been holding that brush since she was a kid. Her work celebrates these common objects, giving them a fresh perspective and presenting them in a new light. Her brushstrokes range from soft to bold and clear, often with a wink. Charlotte's vibrant, ever-changing world, which knows no boundaries in terms of format or technique, currently flows from ceramics to book covers, from solo shows in Berlin to an artist residency in Tuscany.
So, it’s no surprise that the Charlottenburg artist feels almost at home when she heads to the Delphi Lux on a Sunday evening. The high density of galleries in her neighborhood, of course, but also the colorful seats and light installations in the cinema halls – giving off a vibe of the 80s and 90s.
Much like her art, Charlotte approaches a movie night with pure intuition. A serious film? That’s a Wednesday night affair. For Sunday, she opts for something a bit more relaxed. And the drink afterward? It all depends on what she watched before. Anything from a glass of red wine to a Negroni could be on the menu. She loves popping into the legendary Paris Bar just around the corner, or grabbing a drink at the Victoria Bar on her way home. And if she’s in the mood for a bite to eat, she’s all about sharing something with friends – something that could very well end up on one of her canvases later. Maybe some Chinese food?
